Richmond village birthday

On the weekend the village of Richmond celebrated it's 200 year birthday.

There was a parade that spanned the years.

I really love a parade and loved seeing all the costumes and old machinery. Richmond was a convict town with a huge gaol (jail).

Twelve days of Christmas

On the first of December I finally got around to start my twelve days of Christmas cross stitch. I don't think I will be finishing these for Christmas this year, but at least I have started.

Farmer's wife sampler quilt blocks

I am still slowly working through the blocks for my farmer's wife sampler quilt. I had decided to finish the quilt by joining all my blocks together. Then I changed my mind and decided to make the last 13 blocks that form the middle row of the quilt. I thought that if I finished without making the last blocks I may regret that later on.

Now that I have committed to making them I have slowed down and am struggling to find the inspiration to work on them. I have made the first 4 so that is a start. There is no rush and I can just take my time to finish the last 9.

Halloween fun

I am a little late in posting this but I always like to decorate for Halloween. This is part of my bookcase display. I am really happy with my cross stitch pieces that I finished this year.

It has inspired me to make some more. I have a few more pattern ideas and some coloured material perfect for a bit of Halloween mood. Do you decorate for Halloween? What is your favourite type of decoration? Leave a comment, I'd love to hear.

A little bit of spinning

I have been busy spinning away over the last few weeks. These skeins are all from processed tops.

The two next skeins are a wool and silk mix. They are so soft and squishy.  I am thinking of knitting them together in a jumper. I started the black silk mix because I remember spinning some of this up a while ago, but now I can't remember where I have put it. I really hope I haven't sold it so I will have to keep looking through my stash. And then I will need to find a pattern.

I seem to spend a lot of time trying to find knitting patterns. Once I start looking at one patterns I then end up spending hours scrolling through other patterns. If you have any recommendations leave a comment and I will have a look at it.

 Thanks for watching.

Crime and crochet

Today started of warm and continued to be a little too warm to stay out in the garden. I thought it was the perfect time to catch up with some reading on my Ngaio Marsh book. I am slowly trying to expand my golden age of crime reading. Expanding outside Agatha Christie. Some authors are more interesting to than others but I enjoy the challenge.

As I was swapping between crime and crochet a much appreciated thunderstorm rolled in and what could be more perfect .

Now I've got distracted by watching the rain roll in.
