Happy Halloween

It is nearly Halloween and I have been having fun decorating the house. The fun of moving to a new place is trying to find how to display things that always had a home in a different space.   This years display is smaller than our old house but I still enjoy decorating, and in some cases finding ways to stop the new cat from playing with the decorations.

I hope those who enjoy Halloween have fun decorating, I know I love to see the interesting and thoughtful decorations some people have at this time of year . Halloween,  autumn or harvest time I hope you have a safe time.

FFO cross stitch #knittingpodcast

I thought it was time to have some FFO cross stitch projects. That is fully finished objects. I had a few pieces of cross stitch where I had finished the stitching and then put them away to finish later.

Until I started watching flosstube I was never really sure about how to finish off my cross stitch pieces. I had a few pieced that I had framed myself and one I had got professionally framed, but I didnt want to hang everything on the wall. I am so happy for finding some very inspirational stitchers on flosstube. So I just jumped in and made some very simple pillows. How simple was that, and now I can display my work instead of it being packed away.

A trip to Richmond

I recently went to the historic village of Richmond in Tasmania to meet up with my dad for lunch. After going to the christmas shop (have a look at my previous post to see some photos), we had a wander around the old town.

Richmond was originally a town built to house convicts, many were forced to work for local farmers or to create new roads, bridges and buildings in the area.

This is St Lukes anglican church. Construction started in 1834 and was built with convict labour.

I really liked this old house and garden.

This is the old Dispensery, now accommodation  (I think).

Christmas shop

I recently went to the historic village of Richmond in Tasmania to meet up with my Dad for lunch. While I was there I visited the christmas shop, Lafayette on bridge,

The shop is displayed over three floors in an old building on the main road. Narrow stairs , old wooden floors and history everywhere you look. Then there is the Christmas displays to take your breath away.

I went to the shop to buy a scandinavian styled St Nicholas table ornmament to add to my display. This is what I found inside.

I really loved these Grinch ornaments but I wasn't sure that they would fit in with my scandinavian style. The more I think about it, maybe I could make it work as I love the original movie.

This is only a fraction of what they have to offer. I ended up buying a mouse on a spool, called spools of fun it was a Tails with heart by Paul Lundberg. They also had a large range of Jim Shore santa ornaments which I also really liked. I may have to go back and see if I can find the santa ornament I was looking for.
