Tour de France femme #3

 Day 3 of the tour de France femme race is on. I managed to get some plying done today, but this brown fleece seems to keep giving. In previous years I have used the tour de fleece as a way to work my way through the brown stash. Brown is not my favourite colour and I had thought I was near the end of all my brown fleeced but no, there is more.

Granny square love

 I made this granny square blanket years ago and it now sits on the back of my couch. I really love the colours and the way the white brings out the colours. I see it every day so I was a little saddened when I looked closely at how it was showing its age. So maybe it is time to start making a new one. 

Crochet is not something that I have done much of for quite some time so it is always fun to do something different.

Now I just need to decide on yarn, colours and of course a pattern.

Getting back to quilting

 I thought I should stop putting it off and start making the last three blocks for my farmer's wife sampler quilt. These are not the very last three blocks from the series but they complete the number needed to make up a smaller quilt. 

After working in these for so long and starting to loose momentum I thought it would be better to try and finish a smaller quilt with the blocks I already have and have a finished quilt, rather than a whole heap of unfinished blocks just sitting around. Then I can work on the other blocks at leisure and maybe in a more appealing colour range. 

So here it is , progress is slow but it is progress.

episode 38. Sit & spin

Come and join me while I enjoy some spinning and carding. Sometimes things do not turn out the way I had hoped for but I change my spinning idea and continue on.

 

sock knitting

 I have started the year off with a bit of sock knitting for family members. I have finished a pair for my youngest. I used Opal sock yarn in the colourway lollipop.

Over the years I have knitted many socks and for even though the majority have been for me I have knitted ones for others in the family. This was the first time I knitted a pair with negative ease. Usually I knit the socks to fit the foot size but this time I decided to knit a pair which were a little smaller than the foot so their fit would be nice and snug.  I must admit I was a little worried that they would end up too small  in the foot length, as there is nothing as uncomfortable as squashed up toes.
