Tour de femme 2024

It is tour de femme time again. From the 12th to 18th of August the femme will be cycling their way way around Europe. While they spin their wheels a number of dedicated yarn spinners will spin their (spinning) wheels.

I was unable to spin this year during the men's race as I was busy finishing my quilt so I am really excited to get some spinning done.

Here is my first days spinning. I hope to get this brown finished. Below  you can see the bag of brown I hope to work my way through. Wish me luck.

Sit and spin 32, #spinningpodcast

Bishopstone yarns, sit and spin episode 32 is now up on youtube for you to watch. I have finished my Birkin from my handspun and try to decide which colour to spin up next to ply with my black merino silk. I am having trouble deciding which colour would be best to use with such a dark single.

Sometimes it can be the small decisions that hold up a project for the longest time. Even though I am keen to start spinning on my next lot of singles I am finding it hard to make a decision about the best colour to add to my singles. I dont want to end up with a barber pole effect for this spinning project so making the right choice is important.
Maybe you have some suggestions for me. I am feeling like I need to start a new spinning project while I decide what to do.

Organising my yarns

I thought I would  spend today trying to organise some of my previous yarns. I still remember the projects made and the skeins I have sold from most of these samples. I feel the pull of the dye pot now I am already thinking of new colour combinations to try.

A little bit of spinning

I have been slowely working my way through milos latest fleece. I always seem to leave the brown fleece to the last to spin as it seems to go on forever. But this year I decided to spin it first. I have been working my way through it and really pleased with the results.
